In occasione della ratifica da parte del Governo italiano del Secondo Protocollo per la Protezione dei Beni Culturali in caso di Conflitto Armato, adottato il 26 marzo marzo 1999 all’Aia, e in considerazione del suo 10° anniversario, l’Istituto Internazionale di Diritto Umanitario ha organizzato un seminario internazionale di esperti su: “Il Regime di Protezione Internazionale dei Beni Culturali in caso di Conflitto Armato”.
All’iniziativa, organizzata dall’Istituto sotto il Patronato dell’UNESCO, del Ministero italiano per i Beni e le Attività Culturali e del Ministero degli Affari Esteri, hanno partecipato eminenti esperti, rappresentanti di Governi e di Organizzazioni Internazionali provenienti da diversi paesi.
Il seminario, coordinato dal Prof. Edoardo Greppi dell’Università di Torino e dal Prof. Massimo Carcione dell’Università del “Piemonte Orientale”, entrambi membri dell’Istituto Internazionale di Diritto Umanitario, ha affrontato i problemi relativi alla protezione della proprietà culturale in caso di conflitto armato, alla luce delle recenti direttive approvate in seno al Comitato per la Protezione della Proprietà Culturale.
